My Fabulous Boxing Weekend

My Fabulous Boxing Weekend

This weekend was boxing fabulous! On Saturday I went to the Lexington Avenue Gym in Mt Kisco where the owner Nina set me up with a trainer named John who trained me on pure technique.

I like kickboxing, but technical boxing is my real passion. John went over the punches like jab, cross hooks and uppercuts and gave me some great tips to get the most out of my punch. It was great.

Next we went into the ring to go over defense moves. I learned how to move my upper body and go underneath a punch to set myself up to hit next. The end of our session was an exercise to strengthen my arms, particularly the shoulders. Let's face it, boxing needs strong arms and shoulders.

Speaking of shoulders.. great shoulders rock. Not to mention they look neat when you're wearing a strapless dress!

I did a drill hitting the bag in 10 second intervals, first slow and then then faster. I did this for 2 minutes. My Arms were on fire. I had such s great time and plan to work with John again. I will let you know how it goes.

On Sunday I visited Black Hole Jujitsu in Fishkill for their boxing class. The owner Mike was very professional and welcoming I immediately felt comfortable and ready to box.

It was a small class so the instructor could watch each student closely. The boxing coach Ellis was great. Boxing was his career. He got my attention. He gave me the feeling of a real professional boxer. He taught me how to position my feet and move to get the most out of each punch. I was so pleased I decided to take private lessons. I'll keep you informed.
