Women's Boxing Workout - My Why

Women's Boxing Workout - My Why

I'm often asked what makes me so passionate about boxing in my mid-40s.

It's really simple. When I hit 40 years of age, I knew I had to start some kind of exercise, not only for cardiovascular health but also for balance and stamina. I needed to build strength. I was getting older, but I was determined not to get weaker.

So I started with gym cardio machines, and found that although they are great for your heart and weight loss, they are about as entertaining as a trip to the dentist! I was not "following the yellow brick road," and I found going to the gym a chore. I wanted more.

Then, a dear friend invited me to a kickboxing class. I went, and it was the hardest workout of my life. I fell in love with kickboxing and signed a club membership on the spot. At that time, the trainers were amazing. They pushed their clients until they were shaking by the end of the workout. I followed the yellow brick road to kickboxing.

After I got the cardio down and really learned how to work parts of my body, I became very intrigued with boxing. The techniques are amazing, and you can get a powerful workout without kicks. Plus, boxing requires incredible mental concentration so it's impossible to get bored!
